He Was a Skater Boy

Gilet - Hyena, T-shirt - Long Clothing, Dungarees - Topshop, Shirt - River Island, Beanie - Topman, Boots - Aldo, Leather Jacket - Topshop

The 90's grunge revival is back again, but this time it references the laid-back cool of the skaters. Skate wear has massively influenced the Spring/Summer collections and is a massive trend across both designer and highstreet fashion this season. I always enjoy rocking a grungier look on my days off, and I fell in love with this gilet by Hyena when I saw it in work. I think I have had this on mannequins more times than I can count! As soon as it went into sale I knew I had to have one. At a first glance it looks like it's covered in rock band cloth badges, but on closer inspection you can see it's actually the likes of Aaliyah, TLC and Madonna. Brilliant. Inspired by the gilet, I kept the look to monochrome and denim. Keeping true to the skaters I wore my dungarees with a flannel shirt tied around my waist. It's really cold at the moment, so to keep it practical I threw my leather jacket over the top. Now I can't get 'heaven is a halfpipe' out of my head.....
