In the Trench

Coat - H&M, Shirt - Topman, Jeans - River Island, Socks - American Apparel, Creepers - Underground, Clutch - Topman

Ever since I first saw it hit the shopfloor in work, I have been obsessed with the Acne silk trench coat. Obviously I generally can't afford Acne, so I have been on the look-out for something similar on the highstreet. H&M have really pulled it out of the bag with this one. More of a car coat shape than a trench, this coat is unlined and made from a gorgeously soft cotton with silky panels. Acne are famous for understated styling, so I decided it was important for me to reference this when I styled this outfit. I paired the coat with a crisp withe shirt and black jeans. I added a hint of gloss in the form of patent accessories - clutch and creepers, which also picked up nicely on the coated side stripe of the jeans. This outfit is perfect for the transitional weather we are having at the moment, and the coat could easily be styled in a grungier way with a mesh top underneath and boots, or even in a more bohemian way, worn like a kimono with ripped jeans, ethnic prints and a fedora. A fantastic versatile wardrobe staple that's key for this season.
