Happy Birthday Dad

Blazer - Topman, Shirt - H&M, Shorts - Topman, Socks - American Apparel, Creepers - Underground, Clutch - 3.1 Phillip Lim, Sunglasses - Studio Collection

A couple of weeks ago it was my dads 80th birthday - That's right, the big 80! To celebrate, my parents came to London for a few days to do all kinds of touristy fun things. It was a gloriously sunny day, but I wanted to wear something smart for the occasion. Cue tailored shorts. The perfect thing for creating a smart look during hot weather. I also chose to break away from my usual black and go with the much brighter colour - Navy. haha. A clean white shirt was the obvious choice for my navy and white patterned shorts, and to make the look even smarter I threw on a navy blazer (Although I didn't wear this much during the scorching hot weather!). I accessorised with my Phillip Lim clutch and round sunglasses, and white socks teamed with navy creepers complete the look. I hope my dad had a great day, and I'll take this opportunity to once again wish him a happy birthday - I'm sure you'll agree he looks fantastic for his age!

Company Rising Stars Music Party 2014

Shirt - H&M, Gilet - Hyena, Jeans - Zara, Half Skirt - Studio Collection, Boots - Topman

Partying with Hannah and Vanessa from Skinny Dip!

So I was once again lucky enough to be invited to another fabulous event hosted by Company Magazine - this time it was the Rising Stars Music Party. It was held in the Queen of Hoxton and spread across 3 of the floors. Both acts were absolutely superb, and the event once again had all things perfectly tailored to the young blogger crowd. Seekers of sun were there again, but this time I got myself an actual henna tattoo - need to shoot this before it fades! Being a total magpie, I really love their temporary tattoos - they are perfect for the festival season. The goodie bag was absolutley amazing too, filled with essential beauty bits and snacks. I changed my mind about what to wear so many times, but in the end I decided to go for bit of a punk inspired look, in a smart-casual kinda way. I teamed a crisp white shirt with my Hyena studded gilet - I still love how all the rock band badges are actually 90's bands like TLC! I once again wore my Studio collection half skirt over my ripped jeans, but this time decided to only wear the shorter one to give more of a punk style kilt look. No punk outfit would be complete without a pair of DM style boots, and I have practically lived in these since I bought them in the Topman sale. They are so comfortable and go with almost everything I own!

Pacific Life

Shirt - Sam Greenberg Vintage, Culottes - Studio Collection, Sandals - Dr Martens, Snapback - Urban Outfitters, Backpack - Topman

This season the sports luxe trend has taken a major tropical twist, making it fresh and up beat for the scorching hot weather we're having at the moment. It's all about laid back silhouettes paired with leafy tropical prints to create a look that's slick yet fun. I love the print on this Sam Greenberg Vintage shirt - The tigers hiding in the palm leaves give it that extra special detail, and it reminds me of the tiger print Kenzo did last season. I paired this with a pair of culottes - this season's summer staple, and a shape that is not only reserved for women. Wide leg shorts were all over the spring/summer 14 and 15 catwalks, so these are a real investment that will carry me through to next year. My chunky Dr Martens sandals keep the look modern, and no sports inspired outfit is complete without an snapback and a rucksack - in my standard go-to black leather of course. Now I just need to move to a Pacific island.......

London Collections Men : Spring Summer 15

For those who don't already know, London Collections Men happened last weekend, and the standard of Menswear for the next Spring/Summer season is beyond expectations. Once again, due to night shifts in work - I missed the whole thing. Thank god for the internet! Obviously I have spent the weekend trawling through fashion websites and blogs to bring you my personal highlights from the London shows.

1. Ada + Nik
A modern and slick take on leather, Ada + Nik presented a beautifully cut collection of black and silver menswear, and I would wear every single piece. Those leather dungarees would look amazing worn with a crisp white shirt, and the magpie in me can't express my love enough for the silver shorts. And that long length leather gilet is the absolute perfect layering piece that would easily transition from summer into winter.

2. Sibling
Sibling is the unrivaled King of knitwear and a champion for edgy menswear, and Spring/Summer 15 certainly doesn't disappoint. Gorgeous layers of fringe over a sheer knit create a collection with a more sophisticated take on tribal dressing, but stays true to the inspiration with bone jewellery and horse hair Mohawks. Styled perfectly with black lace up derby shoes and socks, it's like a clueless British businessman got lost in the wilderness and went native. Fan-flipping-tastic.

3. KTZ
Sheer. Leather. Metallic. Monochrome. Bold. And all with a sportswear twist. KTZ literally took everything I love about menswear and put it together to create a streetwear embedded collection infused with greek mythology. I feel like I need every single sheer piece in this collection - because they are all so perfect. And even more perfect is the mixture of different textures and fabrics, combining rubber, leather, airtex and even sequins in a way that is masculine  - not an easy task!

4. Christopher Shannon
Christopher Shannon knows how men should dress. The collection feels effortless, yet filled with beautiful subtle details that make this more than just your standard sportswear inspired menswear collection. I especially love the oversized white tee with the navy cut-out shorts. Perfectly styled with white socks and a Man clutch. And keeping that trademark quirky edgy, all the models rocked Miley Cyrus style hair buns. Brilliant.

5. Matthew Miller

The tailoring in Matthew Millers collection is unsurpassed, but it's the floral accessories that really grabbed my attention. Giving the beautiful structure of the clothing a hint of soft femininity makes this a stunningly sensitive collection. I love how an all black outfit is made fantastically chic with just the smallest hint of detail - something I will without a doubt be blogging about in future posts.

There were a few trends on the catwalks I really didn't like - the whole 60's/70's thing that Topman and Katie Eary presented just really didn't sit well with me, and these are usually two of my favorite menswear collections. Such a shame. But apart from that, Spring/Summer 15 is going to be a good season for fashion, and I don't think I could be more excited to start rocking some of these trends. Boom.

Company Style Blogger Awards 2014

Jeans - Zara, Skirts - Studio Collection London, White Shirt - Rabbithole London, Monochrome Top - Rick Owens, Blazer - Topman, Boots - Topman, Clutch  -Topman Lux

Hanging out with Anna from StyleSkittle, Laura from The Pixie Cut, Sarah of That Pommie Girl and Naomi - one half of Two Shoes One Pair
My Wifey -  Sinead of Hackney Rose
Getting our drink on with Sinead from Hackney Rose, Deepali from Call me Names and Lilly-Jo of Fashion Scholar

Ok, so I didn't win, but I have to say I had the most fantastic time. The event was really amazing, with every single detail perfectly tailored to bloggers and blog lovers alike! I got to hang out with a few of my lovely blogger friends, and meet a few more gorgeous people that I hope will become friends! We were welcomed by a festival inspired sunny roof terrace filled with barbecue food and ice cream. And the festival theme continued indoors where we were surrounded by pop ups providing all your festival beauty essentials. Seekers of Sun even fulfilled my wish of getting a neck tattoo! (even though it was a fake one). I got a pack of their tattoos in my goodie bag so definitely look out for a post featuring those beauties! For my outfit I decided to, in the words of Ke$ha, wear all my favorite brands of the moment. Do you remember that Yohji Yamamoto half skirt I blogged about in December? Well Studio Collection have made a similar version of it, and I LOVE IT. It's available in two different lengths, which makes it so versatile. I wore both lengths together to make an asymetric kilt. Over this I layered my Rabbithole London extra long shirt, and then something extra special I treated myself to from work especially for the event - this GORGEOUS monochrome Rick Owens shirt. He has just opened a brand new boutique in Selfridges, which is gorgeous, and I managed to get this bad boy in the sale, and just in time for the event! I accessorised with some Dr Martens style boots and an overiszed clutch, which was perfect for holding my essentials, my camera and the giant goodie bag we were given at the end of the night! Congratulations to everyone who won or got a commendation, and I can only hope to be nominated again next year so that I can hang out with everyone once again!
