Even more press days were on the cards last week, and I now have the opportunity to tell you all about them! First of all I attended the Capitalize PR Spring/Summer 15 Press Day. Capitalize are a creative communications agency representing a wide range of brands. Their main menswear offering is recently established brand Open. Open is a new British menswear retailer that delivers a no-nonsense approach to modern menswear. The brand puts design quality and value at its core - focusing on the key trends for the season and essential wardrobe staples. While Open's ethos is to offer product designed to appeal to men of all ages, for me the collection felt quite young. For SS15, Open are incorporating pieces from their current range together with a collection of modern looks that incorporate key trends for the months ahead. Classic warm-weather staples such as light wash denim, lightweight bombers, skinny chinos and the £5 tee are complemented by statement printed garments. I found it really interesting talking to Stephen Galea, Managing director of Open. His vision for the brand is to deliver a premium shopping experience with a value price tag, and he tells me a large proportion of investment has gone into shopfitting. While overall the brand is not quite my style, there were a few pieces I really liked and could see myself wearing, and the price point is extremely reasonable. OPEN is currently trading nationwide with stores in Manchester, Brighton, Bury, Leeds, Northampton, Stevenage and Hanley. I hope they Open a store in London soon!
Also at the Capitalize Press Day was bag brand 'The Bridge', which had a selection of beautiful leather bags. Gorgeous, but again, not quite my style. The brand that was very much my style though was United Nude. In 2003 United Nude launched the Möbius shoe, which since then has been
recognized as a design-classic and while the brand became the leader in
architectural footwear. United Nude has positioned itself at the intersection of design and
fashion and has gained international recognition for the brand’s
creative work. Known for clarity, elegance and innovation, United Nude
shoes are sold in over 40 countries, with flagship stores in Amsterdam,
London and New York. I'm sure you're all very much aware of my shoe obsession at the moment - so It's no surprise I fell in love with the silver metallic leather boots - SWOON! The most interesting thing about United Nude footwear is how light it is - which makes a pair of United Nude shoes incredibly comfortable to wear! The Joseph press day also happened this week, and I was lucky enough to be able to help set it up! We separated the Spring Summer 15 collection into the different stories of Mens and Womenswear and merchandised them on rails with a couple of mannequins alongside dressed in lookbook looks. To give the showeroom a bit more presence we taped lines on the floor which referenced the lines on the socks used in the show (which we also did on the benches at the fashion show itself), and also dotted some large plants around the showroom which we stole from the menswear store! I have to say I was pretty proud of the layout at the end of the day. This also gave me the opportunity to have another good look at the womenswear collection, and a first proper look at the menswear collection. There are so many pieces I have earmarked for uniform next season! My favorite being the nappa leather and suede short sleeved shirt (although I'm completely torn between this and the leather tee). There is also an amazing grey neoprene tee which is a strong contender, and some black leather joggers, and some amazing print pieces....... Ok, I want pretty much everything! And I''m not just talking about the menswear either, the sheer organza pieces in the womenswear collection are so so amazing. I can't wait for Spring Summer to arrive!
