Shiny and Sheer

Jumper - Topman, Jeans - Kill City, Leather Jacket - Topshop, Clutch - Zara, Hat - Topman, Sunglasses - Primark, Creepers - Underground

I love it when I find something that allows me to show off my tattoo, so when I discovered this sheer panel jumper in Topman, I knew I had to have it. To keep the look edgy I paired this with a pop of sparkle -  silver metallic jeans. I kept the rest of the look simple using only black, and picking up the silver detail with my studded leather jacket and clutch, silver mirrored sunglasses and the shiny silver zips on my BEAUTIFUL black ponyskin creepers. I was inspired by the styling of Georgia May Jagger for the hudson #letyourselfgo campaign. I feel like I could rock this look in downtown LA. Now if only I could afford to go!

A Gift from 3.1 Phillip Lim

Roll Neck Top - H&M, Blazer - Topman, Jeans - Topman, Brooch - Vintage, Clutch - 3.1 Phillip Lim, Creepers - Underground

Many of you may have seen on my Instagram (@geraintdonovanbowen), that I received a Christmas present from the lovely people at 3.1 Phillip Lim, for the support I have given them through maintaining the visual merchandising of their area in our store. The gift was in fact this gorgeous little navy patent leather clutch bag. It super cute, complete with "With Compliments, 3.1 Phillip Lim" written in gold lettering on the inside. I love it. So I have completely based this look around the clutch bag, matching the navy leather to my creepers and roll neck top. To keep the look smart I teamed this with a grey tweedy blazer. Inspired by Lim's Autumn/Winter "Sono Mama" collection, I wanted to add a bit of sparkle, and this brooch was the perfect thing to do that. I inherited it from my grandmother, who sadly passed away just over a year ago, last Christmas. So this post serves a dual purpose - a thank you to the very kind people of 3.1 Phillip Lim, and also in memory of my highly stylish grandmother.

Winter Blossom

Shirt - Topman, Velvet Sweatshirt - H&M, Coat - Maison Martin Margiella for H&M, Jeans - Topman, Boots - Aldo, Collar Tips - Topman

Florals have been a huge trend this winter. One of those things that ordinarily shouldn't be seen this time of year, and yet work so well when put in a layered, cold weather look. I found this amazing velvet sweatshirt in H&M, with the sheer panel I knew I had to pair it with something that would stand out when worn underneath. This post is also an excuse to blog my gorgeous Maison Martin Marigella for H&M shearling coat that I bought in the sale last year. It's literally the warmest item of clothing I have ever owned - like wearing a giant duvet every day! I lived in it last winter, and I'm sure I'll be wearing it equally as much this year. I accessorized with swallow collar tips, providing a nod to the oriental trend without being too costume-y.

London Collections Men

Unfortunately, due to work and the joy that is night shifts, I pretty much missed all the goings on around LCM. So just in case you missed it too, my weekend has been spent trawling the internet and absorbing all the collections shown, and here is a round-up of my favorites.

1. Alexander McQueen
By far my favourite collection for Autumn Winter 2014, Sarah Burton has done a fantastic job creating an edgy, luxe menswear collection that oozes style and sophistication. I loved the styling with the feathers in the hair and the bold graphic shapes created by both the surface decoration and the bold silhouettes.

2. Alan Taylor
One of Selfridges 2013 Bright Young Things, Alan Taylor showed as part of the Man Show. It is no surprise he was chosen as an up-and-comer by Selfridges, as his design talent is clear in his Autumn/Winter collection. He combined greys and blacks with pops of faded neons to give a fresh take on classic mens tailoring.

3. Topman Design
That baby blue coat. I need that coat. It is coat perfection. This season's Topman Design collection took a sombre direction, taking influence from the workmen of the docks. A collection that gave otherwise practical clothing a high fashion twist, and still stayed true to the Topman Customer.

4. E. Tautz
In all honesty, not a designer I would claim to know much about,  but a collection that spoke to me from the moment I saw it. The beautiful fabrics, the slick, clean styling and that fantastic silhouettes put together an incredibly covetable collection in dark yet rich tones of black, teal and warm copper.

Honourable Mentions
James Long, Agi & Sam, Craig Green, Sibling, Bobby Abley

So, this Autumn/Winter is all about high-shine, rich metallics, gorgeous knitwear, oversized boxy silhouettes, graphic prints, clashing textures, monochrome with a flash of colour and perfectly styled tailoring. I hope you're as excited for next winter as I am!

Sale Swag - Part 2

Sweater - BLK DNM, Shorts - Rabbit Hole London, Meggins - Rabbit Hole London, Portfolio - Ryman, Socks - H&M, Boots - Aldo

For my 2nd Sale Swag post, I have gone for a much more clean, minimalist look. I have been looking for a good basic grey sweat for ages, and I was tempted to buy the Isabel Marant for H&M one. But then I saw this BLK DNM one on sale in work. It's perfect. Really lovely fit, and I love the wide neck. My other sale purchase was the Leather shorts and meggins from Rabbit Hole in Camden. I used to live in Camden, and everytime I walked past the store I wanted to buy something, but it was always too expensive. I spotted this combo in the sale and decided I had to have it. Excellent for the winter with the meggins underneath, but I can also wear the shorts in the summer without them. I feel really designer in this outfit, and it's so comfortable I want to wear it everyday.

Sale Swag - Part 1

Jumper - Zara, Jeans - Zara, Scarf - eBay, Leather Jacket - Topshop, Vest (Under Jumper) - Topman, Boots - Aldo

Ok, so working in retail I really do hate the January sales, however, it is the best time to grab a fashion bargain, and treat yourself to something pretty for a fraction of the price. So here are a couple of the sale finds I've bought myself with my Christmas money. Both sale items are from Zara - the ripped destroyed jeans, and black and white stripey jumper. The jeans are completely impractical, as I'm not allowed to wear ripped denim in work, but I have wanted a really good pair of ripped jeans for so long, and these are just perfect, even if I can only wear them on my days off. I once again looked to the Saint Laurent A/W collection for inspiration when styling the look, adding a long red scarf (Which was free from work, as it was going to be thrown away!) and studded leather jacket. I finished the look off with my beautiful zip front army boots from Aldo. Such a good look I managed to get papped by another fashion blogger while wearing it around Shoreditch -  If anybody finds the blog it's on please let me know!
