His Name Is Mac - Part 1

Coat - Burberry Prorsum, Roll Neck Top - H&M, Jumper - c/o Boohoo, Trousers - Sparks, Belt - Topshop, Shoes - Matthew Miller

The statement mac is always a huge winter trend. This transitional - raining one minute, dry the next - weather makes it one of the most important wardrobe staples of the season. I wanted to show that this look can be achieved regardless of whether you have the cash, and so I have split this trend into two separate posts - High end and High street. My first post is High end, and what better brand to feature in a post about macs than the king of macs - Burberry. This particular Mac is from the Autumn Winter 2013 collection and was originally nearly £2000! (Of course I didn't pay anywhere near that - the joy of sample sales!). It is made from a really cool semi transparent plastic, very similar to the Lip Service shirt I styled in my last post. I kept the styling fairly minimal, opting for a warm roll neck under a jumper, teamed with my high-waisted trousers. I know cut-out shoes aren't very practical for the weather right now, but I'm so in love with these Matthew Miller shoes they were a must, and they look awesome with a pair of socks (making them slightly more practical). Look out for my next post styling up a highstreet version of this look!

His Name Is Glow

Shirt - c/o Lip Service, Jacket - Topman, Jeans - c/o OPEN, Fedora - Topman, Shoes - Irregular Choice, Septum Ring - Gypsy East

Photography by JC Candanedo

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win one of those Instagram competitions. You know - one of the ones where you have to re-instagram the photo with the appropriate hashtags and more often than not it's just a way for the brand to get some free advertising and nobody actually wins (at least thats what it normally feels like). Well I ACTUALLY won one! So it is possible to win something - keep re-instagramming people! The brand in question is Lip Service. Lip Service started out with founder Drew Bernstein making leggings without knowing a thing about sewing. He taught himself along the way, found a market and soon started creating rocker fashion that no one else was making.
Over a decade later Lip Service is still dishing out clothing for punks, rockers and everyone in between. Personally I love Lip Service because it creates much more fashion-forward versions of the clothes I might have worn back in my goth days in school. The item I was lucky enough to win is actually something I had been thinking about buying for ages. You know how much I love anything sheer, and the kinetic shirt is made from a frosted rubber, which makes it feel super modern. I'm loving white on white at the moment so I teamed the shirt with my white leather jacket. I felt it was time to rock my light-up trainers once again, as the lights really complimented the futuristic feel of the shirt. I kept the rest of the outfit clean with black skinny jeans and my black fedora, and finished the whole thing off with my Gypsy East septum ring - a little nod to Lip Service's punk roots. Even if you're not into the whole punk/goth thing, you should definitely check Lip Service out because they have some super cool pieces that you definitely won't find anywhere else on the high street.

A Fashion Blogger Christmas

Merry Christmas Everybody! As it's Christmas day, I thought it only fitting to share with you the lovely gifts I received this year, and maybe give you some inspiration for what to buy the fashion blogger in your life next year! So here is my Christmas Day gift haul!

1. Canon EF 50mm f1.8 Lens

My main present this year was something I felt I desperately needed for my blog - a new lens for my camera! No, admittedly I don't know much about cameras, and to be honest in order to find out exactly what I needed I went to jessops and said 'I want a lens that does blurry backgrounds'. Luckily the very helpful staff in Jessops knew exactly what I needed, and I have to say it is already taking much better photographs. I haven't used it for myself yet (except to take the photos for this blog post!), but you can check out how good it is at taking street style photos over at Hackney Rose!

2. Boss Bottled Gift Set

Boss Bottled is by far my favorite aftershave - I wear it pretty much every day. So this gift set is perfect for me because it not only contains a giant bottle of my everyday aftershave, but also shower gel and an aftershave balm - so I'm going to smell positively amazing at all times from now on!

3. Boss Bottled Travel Set
Can you see a theme emerging? As some of you may know, traveling is becoming a big part of my job, with trips to Paris becoming a regular occurrence. Well now I'll be able to pack a little lighter, by taking one of these tiny bottles of aftershave with me instead of my usual massive bottle.

4. Vidal Sassoon Travel Hairdryer
Another useful travel accessory. Despite cutting my hair short, I'm still very much in need of a hairdryer - more so to keep my hair flat than to actually dry it! This will be the ideal thing to take with me when I'm off on work trips to make sure I'm always looking my best.

5. Topman Pony Skin Boots
I've been wanting to get a new pair of winter boots for so so long, and have been debating which pair to get. Well Santa got it spot on this year with these beauties! Ok, ok, so I asked for them from my parents, Santa had nothing to do with it, but either way, you will definitely be seeing these in many blog posts to come!

6. Ferrero Rocher
Last, but not least, the chocolate of ambassadors. It's not Christmas without Ferrero Rocher.

Well that's everything I got this year. I hope you got everything you wanted and had a lovely time whatever you ended up doing. I'm so very grateful for all of my gifts and really appreciate having loving parents who are able to make Christmas special, and for finally having a job which allows me to spend a decent amount of time at home with them! I can honestly say I have spent the majority of my time at home watching Christmas films, eating and sleeping. Who can ask for anything more?!

His Name Is Jeanius - Part 2

Jeans - Nudie Jeans c/o Woodhouse Clothing, Shirt - Zara, Blazer - Topman, Clutch Bag - Zara, Necklace - Borderline Apparel, Shoes - Topman

Photography by Liam Young

As promised here is the second installment of my Nudie Jeans styling post sponsored by Woodhouse Clothing. Jeans are such a versatile thing, which means they are such an important wardrobe staple for every man - especially a black skinny. In my first post I showed you how to do a casual weekend look with my Nudie Jeans, my second post is a smarter look suitable for work, or a night out. Maybe even the perfect look for a new years eve party. To smarten the jeans I paired them with a clean black shirt which I tucked into them. Over this I layered a smart black blazer and to make the look more 'me' I added a statement harness style necklace, which just gives the look that bit more interest and sparkle. I wore my smart metal buckle monk shoes to pick up on the metal detail of the harness and completed the look with a black clutch bag. I just want to take a second here to thank Liam for the absolutely amazing photographs of this outfit, they are by far my favorite photos I have ever posted - I feel like they could be a campaign shoot for some high-end menswear brand. And also to thank Woodhouse Clothing for very kindly giving me the jeans to help promote their denim campaign - It means a lot to me to be able to work with talented photographers and amazing menswear brands and I couldn't maintain this blog without the continued support. Anyway, enough of the soppy business, if you want to buy the jeans for yourself they are available here, and please check out Woodhouse's denim guide here.

His Name Is Jeanius - Part 1

Jeans - Nudie Jeans Co c/o Woodhouse Clothing, Jacket - c/o En Noir X Gap, Tee - Illustrated People, Boots - Aldo, Backpack - Topman

Photography by Liam Young

Woodhouse clothing have recently launched 'Enjoy Denim Responsibly' - a guide to all things Denim. The guide covers everything from the history of denim, to care, to an overview of Woodhouse's essential denim brands. To help promote the campaign, Woodhouse have very kindly gifted me with the ultimate wardrobe staple that every man needs in his life - The perfect pair of black skinny jeans. The pair I chose are Nudie Jeans Tight Long John - they are a super tight fitting jean with a low rise waist, classic five-pocket design and zip fly. To demonstrate exactly how versatile these jeans are I'm styling them in two different ways - a casual everyday look and a smart look (Although I'm sure you'll see these jeans in many many more looks to come!). My first look is the perfect thing for a lazy weekend. I started with a burnout jersey tee and went for the double denim look by layering my En Noir X Gap coated denim jacket. I finished the look with comfortable winter boots and a leather backpack. Check out the denim guide here, and get your own pair of Nudie jeans here. Stay tuned for the second installment styling up my perfect staple jeans!
