With Alexander Wang as the Creative Director, is it any wonder that Balenciaga has become one of my favorite high-end designer brands at the moment. His Autumn/Winter 15 collection is inspired by brutalist architecture, with the grainy, rough textures of stone and concrete replicated in jacquard wools with a grey and black colour palette. A few weeks ago I went to the £1 sale at the east end thrift store, and the queue was so long I didn't bother to even try to go in. Instead I went into the fill-a-bag with my partner in crime Sinead (from Hackney Rose). This turned out to be a much better idea as we spent £20 on a bag, and got a total of 30 items - much cheaper than the £1 sale! (admittedly, about 75% of this was scarves for Sinead haha). Anyway, one of the pieces I got was this shirt, which really reminded me of the Balenciaga Autumn/Winter 15 collection, so I decided to take all my style cues from there. I layered the shirt over a white roll-neck and teamed it with some smart trousers in the same shade of grey. The collection is minimal, so I limited my accessorizing and finished the look with my Dr Martens boots. I think the only thing I am missing is a simple black backpack, but otherwise I'm happy with this look, especially as the shirt cost less than £1!
