Nicholas Darby Illustration

As you may have noticed, His Name Is Fashion has undergone a bit of a makeover. This is all in thanks to a fantastic Illustrator - Nicholas Darby. I thought it would only be right to give you a bit of background about the talented boy himself, and the reason why he was the perfect person to give His Name Is Fashion a new look.

Nicholas is a Bristol Based Illustrator and Designer. He graduated with a BA(Hons) in Illustration from University College Falmouth in 2010, and has been working freelance ever since. His main inspirations stem from popular culture, the 1980's, fashion and more recently (and perhaps surprisingly) the world of horticulture. Over the years he's developed a particular penchant for drawing the rich and famous, from A-Z list, dead or alive -and I'm proud to say that I have now joined the ranks.

Nicholas' work is deeply rooted in the world of fashion. Not only has he illustrated fashion, but he has also created the illustrations FOR fashion. Recently he collaborated with one of my favourite brands, Tzuji, and created all the graphics for their Autumn/Winter 15 Electroclash collection (A collection I'm super excited to wear!). On top of this, he also created the LFW invitation, promotional poster, and a custom typeface for the brand. And talking of typography, this is another area in which this boy is super skilled, with some gorgeous typefaces to his name. But Nicholas' major talent, it has to be said, is in illustrating people. He is fantastically skilled at capturing the subject's spirit, while still maintaining his trademark cool-factor.

So is it any wonder Nicholas was the ideal person to re-design my blog header and logo? I am supremely happy with the outcome, and I'm sure you'll agree. You can see a few examples of his work below, and even more examples (plus details on how to contact him) on his website here. Nicholas is available for commissions and is currently seeking representation, so don’t hesitate to get in contact.
