Highstreet Edit

The new season is well and truly upon us, and highstreet stores are being filled with transitional Autumn Winter stock just crying out to be worn. Luckily, I have taken out half the legwork and put together an edit of the best pieces available on the highstreet that need to be living in your wardrobe right now!

River Island: Pinstripe Shirt, Camel Coat, Asymmetric Sweater, Wool Cargo Pants, Pavement Print Top, Zip Overshirt
In my opinion, River Island actually has the best selection of menswear on the high street right now. They are really upping their game in terms of design, and taking all the right notes from the catwalk. With all the little details nailing the Autumn Winter aesthetic, there is so much to choose from. The zip overshirt delivers a great homage to the Balenciaga Autumn/Winter collection, and the wool cargo pants are so Stella McCartney it's unreal. I'm always a fan of a bit of Asymmetry, and the asymmetric sweater is no exception, definitely something I could see myself wearing again and again.

Forever 21: Metallic Biker Jacket, Flannel Shirt, Wool Overcoat, Double Layer Sweatshirt, Elephant Print Shirt, Destroyed Dungarees, Wool Hat
A new addition to my highstreet edit, and another brand upping it's game, is Forever 21. Their menswear range is continually growing, and offers up some really cool pieces at insanely affordable prices. Where else are you going to find a silver metallic biker jacket?! I really love the ethnic inspired elephant print shirt, and would definitely wear it layered under the ripped up dungarees. I'm always on the look out for alternatives to my usual black fedora, and I'm loving the shape and leather tie detail of the wool hat, it has a Comme Des Garcons feel (at a fraction of the price)

H&M: Asymmetric Tee, Drop Crotch Shorts, Leather Biker, Grid Check Longline Shirt, Formal Shorts, Linen Blend Coat, Funnel Neck Tee
H&M are a longstanding favourite of mine, they really can't be beaten for wardrobe staples and unexpected fashion forward pieces. This Autumn Winter they are nailing the all black trend with pieces that could have come straight off the runway. Taking inspiration from Rick Owens and Raf Simmons, high necks and drapey pieces aren't hard to find. The formal shorts are the perfect work wardrobe piece for this ridiculously hot weather we're having at the moment, and if you want a staple leather biker jacket, look no further.

Topman: Flat Rib Roll Neck, Pinstripe Cropped Trouser, Stripe Poncho, Merino Turtle Neck, Camel Cape, Stripe Shirt, Leather Biker
Capes are back at Topman! This makes me so happy, and their stylish cousin the poncho is also making an appearance - combining two trends for the season, fringing and stripes. Also channeling the stripe trend is the monochrome stripe shirt (which is made from a fantastic soft drapey viscose) and pinstripe cropped joggers. The high neck is still major this season, updated with the slightly lower turtle neck and in ribbed form.

Zara: Roll Neck Longline Top, Grey Joggers, Peccary Jacket, Pocket Overshirt, Longline Tee, Minimalist Backpack, Funnel Neck Coat
Last, but by no means least, Zara. Delivering you the trends before the designers even have chance to put them into production, Zara is nailing the sports luxe trend for this Autumn Winter. Although I'm generally not a hoodie fan, I had to include the Pocket Overshirt, as it's a great version of one in the Joseph Spring/Summer 16 collection - get it a whole season early at a snippet of the price! Zara is also doing a great job of producing longline pieces (being tall, this makes me super happy), with basic tees and more directional pieces like the roll neck top, making great wardrobe staples. My favourite piece, however, has to be the grey funnel neck coat - beautiful shape in a beautiful pale grey, how can you go wrong?!
