Press Days : River Island Menswear

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of attending the River Island Spring/Summer 16 Menswear Press Day. For Spring/Summer 2016 River Island is continuing to focus on premium cuts, high quality fabrics and clean silhouette - the winning combination that makes up their phenomenal Autumn/Winter collection in-store now. The colour palettes are seasonally fresh, a variety of neutrals complimented with pops of bright colour across chic separates and carefully crafted tailoring. River Island were showcasing their 6 Key Trends for next season at their Oxford Street head office. And what a great selection of trends. My favorite of these had to be 'Spa', utilizing the fine cuts and design of tailoring within a strict neutral colour palette. A mixture of premium tailoring fabrics and sports luxe cloths are remodeled to create a contemporary aesthetic featuring soft greys, sage green and flesh pink. The minimalist vibe really spoke to me, and I had some serious love for the outfit featured on the wall corresponding to the trend - warm grey duster coat with a cream sweat and gray flannel joggers, nailing the luxe track look. There were also some great pieces in the 'Utilitarian' trend, which delivers a fresh take on the modern military trend that continues to remain relevant each and every season. Utility hardware such as Zips, 3D pockets and patch pockets provide authentic detail, giving a military nod to modern wearable pieces. White the clothing was great, it was the accessories that really stood out for me. Sportswear details provided a modern edge to otherwise staple backpacks and belts - my favorites being the silver buckled black leather backpack and a hybrid black leather belt featuring a webbing strap and plastic press fastener. There were also some fantastic sportswear inspired shoes, I'm sure everyone will be wearing the relaxed sliders and slip-ons next season - so easy to wear yet so chic. Within the press day, drinks were available from the cute 'River Island Riviera Hotel Bar', and pizza was served from a pastel colored van. I was even lucky enough to be given a goody bag for attending, which included a fashionable coloring book and pencils, usb stick and a gift card that will be spent on something to be featured in an up-coming blog post I'm sure. Check out my photos from the day below, and I'm sure you'll get just as excited as I am to be shopping River Island next season.
